Срещата на стадион „Болт Арена“ в Хелзинки започна по мечтан начин за „Арда“, който откри резултата чрез Давид Акинтола. След индивидуален пробив по десния фланг, Акинтола прониза вратаря Найхаус с удар от малък ъгъл – исторически първи гол за кърджалийци в Европа.
Домакините от ХИК успяха да обърнат резултата с голове на Кай Мерилуото в 38-ата минута и на опитния нападател Теему Пуки в 69-ата. Финландците създадоха редица опасни положения, но в 85-ата минута „Арда“ показа характер – Георги Николов изведе Спас Делев, който с прецизен диагонален удар изравни резултата.
До края на редовното време и в продълженията нови попадения не паднаха. Българският отбор обаче демонстрира отлична дисциплина в защита, воден от Вутов и Велковски, а вратарят Анатолий Господинов се отличи с решаващи намеси.
При дузпите „Арда“ беше по-концентриран и точен – всички шестима изпълнители вкараха безпогрешно, докато ХИК пропусна веднъж.
С този успех кърджалийци записаха златна страница в клубната си история и продължават напред в Лигата на конференциите, където ще очакват съперника си в третия квалификационен кръг.
