По-интересна обаче бе картината по трибуните. 40 хиляди зрители, хореография, но атмосферата напомняше повече опера, отколкото футбол. Личеше отсъствието на истинските фенове – бойкотът си каза думата. Вместо песни и заряд, се чуваха изолирани възгласи „Българи юнаци“ от хора, които сякаш за първи път стъпват на стадион, облечени в фланелки на Реал Мадрид и Барселона.
Сравнението с атмосферата на последните дербита ЦСКА–Лудогорец и Левски–АЗ е красноречиво – тогава имаше пиротехника, песни и истинска футболна публика, докато на националите цареше оперна тишина. Мнозина дойдоха просто да видят Ламин Ямал и Педри, дъвчейки семки и облечени сякаш за дискотека. Точно такава публика изглежда предпочитат в БФС – пасивна, но носеща приходи.
Едва в 80-ата минута на стадиона се чу първата по-сериозна песен – феновете на ЦСКА не издържаха и запяха познатата си песен за президента на БФС Георги Иванов – Гонзо, като към нея добавиха и обидни скандирания срещу централата. „Сините“ им отвърнаха с „Червени боклуци“ и всичко приключи дотам.
По-старото поколение още помни как на този стадион Германия губеше след като водеше с 2:0 пред врящия котел „Васил Левски“. Новото поколение едва ли ще види скоро силен национален отбор и истинска публика като от добрите стари времена – освен ако не настъпят кардинални промени.
