На 25 август се навършват точно 20 години от едно от най-знаковите покушения в съвременната ни история – убийството на Георги Илиев, известен като Главния. Лидерът на ВИС-2 и собственик на „Локомотив“ Пловдив никога нямаше да напусне Слънчев бряг жив, след като фатален изстрел от отсрещен хотел прекъсна празничната му вечер.

Малко преди куршума, Илиев празнуваше успеха на своя тим в Европа. „Смърфовете“ току-що бяха елиминирали сръбския ОФК Белград след драматична победа с 1:0, а близо 10 000 фенове вдигаха трибуните на крака. В „Буда бар“ – заведението, което той предварително беше резервирал, купонът се вихреше с пълна сила. Но Георги Илиев, изглежда, е предчувствал нещо – разказват, че тази вечер е бил необичайно мълчалив, сякаш усещал сянката, надвиснала над него.
Фаталният изстрел идва от прозорец на хотел точно срещу заведението. Легендите говорят за професионално изпълнение – един куршум, една цел. Стрелецът – Красимир Станчев, наричан Легионера, остава в сивата зона на историите за „мокри поръчки“ от онова време.
Две десетилетия по-късно сградата на „Буда бар“ стои като мрачен паметник на онзи августовски ден – с оголени стени, рушащи се основи и метални огради. Местните минават край нея с респект и тихо напомнят на туристите: „Тук убиха Жоро Илиев.“
А след това винаги посочват с пръст отсрещния хотел – мястото, от което дошъл изстрелът, сложил точка на живота на човека, който владееше и футболни трибуни, и подземния свят.
Хронология на трагедиите в семейство Илиеви
- 25 април 1995 г. – Васил Илиев, по-големият брат и основател на ВИС, е застрелян в София. Убийството му е един от първите големи удари в подземния свят след промените.
- 1995 – 2005 г. – Георги Илиев поема групировката ВИС-2 и постепенно се превръща в една от най-влиятелните фигури в страната. С времето легализира част от бизнеса и влиза във футбола чрез „Локомотив“ Пловдив.
- 25 август 2005 г. – Георги Илиев е застрелян в Слънчев бряг с един изстрел от снайпер. Покушението става часове след историческата победа на Локомотив Пловдив в евротурнирите.
Наследството на една епоха
20 години по-късно въпросите остават без отговор. Кой поръча убийството и защо? Беше ли то част от войната за територии в подземния свят, или резултат от лични предателства? Истината остава погребана в тишината на онези години.
Но паметта за братята Илиеви продължава да тегне над България – като символ на една противоречива епоха, в която футбол, бизнес и подземие се преплитаха в единен разказ.
